NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Energy stocks rose on Wednesday to start the second month of 2012 in positive territory. Marathon Petroleum Corp. ranked as a top gainer among components of the S&P 500 by advancing about 10.5%. Refiner Tesoro Corp. moved up by about 2%.
